Golden Purslane
Portulaca oleracea. Verdolagas in Spanish. This is not a wild purslane, but a cultivated variety. Its leaves are much larger, and it stays more upright, making it easier to pick the succulent leaves. Purslane’s crispy, lemony leaves are very tasty, and it is exceptionally nutritious: it is very high in Vitamin E, beta carotene, the omega 3 ALA, and more. A warm season crop, plant purslane in the springtime after danger of frost is past. Not from our Seed Bank Collection, but your purchase supports our conservation mission.
