Chihuahuan Ornamental

Amaranthus cruentus.  From the heart of the Chihuahuan desert in Mexico, this beautiful variety is also called Sangre de Castilla, the “Blood of Noble Spain.” The black seeds are edible and the leaves are used as greens.  The plants can grow 5 to 8 feet tall in good soil.   From our Seed Bank Collection.
