“Chiltepin Harvest” Giclee PRINT

Alexandra Jimenez is a Chicana print-maker, illustrator and designer. Her artistic practice explores her connection to land, culture and history as a fourth generation Mexican-American in Tucson, Arizona.
“Chiltepin Harvest” was inspired by the seasonal harvest that many families in Sonora, Mexico participate in. They camp near wild stands of the chiltepin and harvest its spicy little peppers. Alexandra was also inspired by the other name assigned to this chile known as the “mother of all peppers”. It is thought to be an ancient plant and hybridizes rapidly when planted close to other chiles. Therefore, Alexandra expressed that she felt right in centering her illustration around a mother and daughter harvesting this important plant; the Sonoran chiltepin.
Printed on archival paper – measures 11 inches x 14 inches.
